I love my wife.... I really do. She has such a big heart and thinking up activities to do with the children, like painting a murder scene on the garage doors, and instead of using washable paint (because the rain will wash it off) She used acrylic.
Any other suggestions to get this shit off? The Mr. Clean eraser started taking the white paint off. And the green scrub pads with soap leave the green scuffs.
I had some degreaser stuff that worked on the top layer, but the door had like divots and it’s in all the creases.
I also tried a gas power washer from work and it didn’t touch it. And of course I hit the driveway to see if anything happened and BAM!!! My driveway is apparently dirty and needs power washed. So I did the next logical thing and just power washed the driveway, except for this last section and I ran out of gas.
I’m also refusing to remove the jack-o-lanterns from the lights until we move out of Halloweentown. She is somewhat embarrassed at this and I’ll leave it on so she looks at her fuck up everytime she pulls into the driveway.
My wife’s next solution, paint them red and put a big bow on them.
NOPE!

Yeah my suggestion would have been magic eraser so... oops. You could try toothpaste? Heat maybe? Or google something that dissolves acrylic paint but not whatever your garage doors are painted with?

There might be a Good Gone for paint, or a non-chemical paint remover/stripper.

That’s farkin’ hilarious. I’d say keep that up until next summer when all Halloween context is gone. O r when someone calls the cops.

Add green streaks and claim it’s for Christmas?

“ Heat maybe?”
I’d say apply a small amount of extreme heat to the exterior of the home then let nature take its course.

There’s a product called Goof Off that's used to remove relatively fresh paint if you make a mistake while painting your house and get some on your trim accidentally, etc. Maybe try that?

I mean... It's December on Saturday. Halloween context is already gone

aw, that’s kind of mean. it seems like she had really good intent, just made a mistake.
As far as the paint goes, acrylic over what’s probably latex... I dunno of any way to get the red off without stripping the white as well. I’d just repaint the doors.

Isopropyl alcohol or ammonia should take it off. It might also take the white paint off, but hopefully not.

I'll take some of that.

I guess it’s time to paint your doors red now, and get the house door too so the design is cohesive.

If you have some lighter fluid give that a shot. Put a little bit on a cotton ball and see if that works. Someone suggested isopropyl alcohol. Try that too.

Buy new garage doors. Cause they’re never going to look as good as they did wen you bought them.

That's 2 grand minimum with installation, plus disposal and removal. I would be so so so unhappy...

Put white paint over the red paint? Or over the entire door?

Wait for a hail storm and have insurance cover two new doors?
In the meantime, you can use the metallic looking wrapping paper on each segment to make the doors look like xmas presents! That will buy you some time to worry about this after the stressful holidays

ha, love it. I came home last Monday and my wife had put several new Christmas lights out in front. It looked great but I ask her, “so, what did you plug those into?”. “I just unplugged the orange cord from the outlet in the garage,” she responds. The orange cord is the one plugged into our freezer...

You may have trouble with bleed through if you just try to paint over it. You might need to media blast it off before repainting. Maybe try walnut shells or soda blasting if you have the necessary equipment for it.

Here is the thing. I had to go to the store today and buy a bunch of stuff that didn’t work, and what did work was under our sink for years. I helped of course, but me being a bit of an asshole isn’t that big of a deal. She did feel bad, and I’m glad she did. It didn’t hurt anyone, so everything is fine.
What really got to her though was neighbors putting up Christmas lunch guys and we have that crap on our garage still.
But the more people she told the story to, it seemed she didn’t mind the attention and pity.
Oh well it almost gone now. I’ll atill need to repaint when it gets warmer.
